Maccabi Haifa Eyes January Transfer Window with Former Captain

Maccabi Haifa is already setting its sights on the January transfer window, and the prominent name on their radar is none other than ex-Greens captain Netta Lavi, as reported by the Sports Channel website. Club officials believe that bringing back the former captain, who is considered one of the top midfielders in Israeli football, is a necessary action for the team.

Lavi, who was sold to Japanese club Gamba Osaka for half a million euros about a year ago, is currently under contract until the end of 2025. With two more years left on his contract, Lavi is earning a salary of over one million euros, double the amount of the current top earner in Maccabi Haifa, Dia Saba, who earns 600 thousand euros per season.

Despite his lucrative contract, Lavi is open to the possibility of leaving Japan before the end of his contract, as he is expected to receive additional offers. Reports from the Sport channel indicate that Hungarian club Franzvarous is interested in Lavi, who also holds a Portuguese passport and is not considered a foreigner in Europe.

The Israeli midfielder has had an impressive season with Gamba Osaka, making 31 appearances in all formats and standing out as one of the bright spots for the team, which finished the season in 16th place in the league and narrowly avoided relegation.

Maccabi Haifa is well aware of the limited options in the Israeli market, especially in the midfield. With the current quartet of Ali Muhammad, Mahmoud Jaber, Manuel “Show” Kapumana, and Goni Noor, the team is looking to bolster its midfield by turning to the former captain and attempting to secure his signature in what could be the most glittering signing of the January transfer window in the Premier League.
