A day after the disappointing loss in Monaco, which was the eighth in a row in the Euroleague, the management of Maccabi Tel Aviv met tonight (Thursday) to discuss the team’s situation and ways to get out of the big crisis.
At the meeting a decision was made that coach Yannis Sapropoulos would remain in his post, despite much disappointment from the ability and results. In a meeting with the coach last week, it was made clear to him that the management expects improvement in the near future. At the same time, the members of the management decided to accelerate the contacts to strengthen the players’ staff, with the understanding that with the existing staff it will be difficult to achieve better results.
The club’s official statement said: “The management wants to make it clear that despite the various rumors and publications in recent days, Yannis Sapropoulos will continue to coach Maccabi Tel Aviv. On the other hand, the management will continue to explore all options to strengthen the team. “Maccabi, because the current situation deprives them of sleep and that they work nights and nights in order to bring the team back to the king’s road.”
