The match between the two leaders in the Premier League in volleyball promised and took place tonight (Saturday), when Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Galil Mata Asher Acre 2:3 (12:15, 21:25, 15:25, 25:16, 16:25).
Gandy Sokolev was excellent with 23 points, Gianluca Grasso added 14 points. The loser was led by Yevgeny Banov with 20 points, Inoval Romero Valdes added 16.
“A game with many ups and downs,” concluded Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Gal Galili. “We are happy that in the end we came out with an important victory even in a game like this that could go either way, tomorrow we have a day off and we are already starting to think about the return match in Cyprus for advancing to the semifinals of the European Challenge Cup later this week.”
Thanks to the victory, Maccabi Tel Aviv maintained a perfect record at the top of the table – 13 out of 13.
In the Women’s Premier League, Maccabi Ashdod defeated Hapoel Kfar Saba 2:3, while MS. Ailabon beat Maccabi Girls of Nazareth 0:3.
