Machado and Gonzalez join protesters gathered in the square – Latin America

by time news

Venezuelan opposition leaders Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia and Maria Corina Machado joined a march called for today in downtown Caracas to protest the re-election of Nicolas Maduro, which they say was fraudulent.

The politicians – who live in hiding – drove through the streets filled with protesters in a van before intervening.

“Despite what we are experiencing, we are here. Each of you speaks for the Venezuelans in prison who will be freed. Our strength is unstoppable,” Machado said. “We are an indomitable people and we must take care of ourselves to carry forward our project until the end,” he added, highlighting that “no democratic people in the world has recognized the election of Maduro.”
