Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March, the National Science and Technology Museum offers a special weekend of activities with the artist in residence Machiel Veltkampauthor of the work WALL OF STOOLSspecially designed for the Museum.

Machiel Veltkamp, ​​an expert in interaction design, will meet adults and children to open new windows of reflection and exploration of digital languages, starting from the relationship withartificial intelligence up to the connections between technological innovations and artistic creative processes, with the aim of identifying new relationships and potentials.

Researcher of the HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht), is an artist and expert in data visualization and interaction design. He holds the Bachelor of Art and Technology at HKU, a Master in Digital Environment Design at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and was one of the founders of the collective Z25.org.

His work WALL OF STOOLSborn from the contamination between technology, art and science, was created as part of Future Inventors, a laboratory dedicated to STEM with the support of Rocca Foundation. Through original contents, tools and languages ​​such as interactive projections, sound art, videomapping, pixels and creative algorithms, Future Inventors In fact, it aims to develop an innovative approach to involve and thrill children aged 11 and older in STEM and to enrich the teaching of these subjects at school, with new educational tools for teachers that go beyond the traditional distinction between scientific and artistic subjects.

Machiel Veltkamp will be present in the laboratory to present its installation Wall of Stools and experience videomapping with the public on Saturday 26 March in the afternoon (2.30pm and 4pm) and Sunday 27 in the morning (10.30am and 12pm).

On Saturday 26 March in the morning (10 and 11.30) and Sunday 27 in the afternoon (14 and 15.30) the laboratory activity will instead be conducted by Education staff of the Museum.

Among the other activities scheduled, on the occasion of the initiatives for World Water Day, the Museum proposes itineraries created in collaboration with the CNR – Department of Bio-Agri-Food Sciences, as part of the program for the dissemination of scientific culture on agri-food and bio-economy issues. On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March, the i.lab of Genetics will host the Plants and water path, to experience the role of water in plant growth and discuss the relationship between the plant world and the environment.

Also this weekend the journey into science continues in the interactive laboratories, where the proposals of the i.lab alternate Leonardo to learn firsthand about Leonardo da Vinci’s working method and those in the Tinkering Zone, where adults and children from eight years old can create DIY pinball machines. For more adults, the YOU & AI Digital Zone will be open, a digital environment to improve the dialogue and involvement of the public on the topic of artificial intelligence.

There are also free guided tours to the Transport section, for children and for a fee at Leonardo Galleriesthe largest exhibition in the world dedicated to Leonardo da Vinciand within the Enrico Toti submarine.

All laboratory activities, temporary exhibitions and permanent exhibitions are included in the entrance ticket to the Museum.
