Tungurahua, 130 members of the Cariguahyrazo Agricultural Workers Association of Chiquicahua benefit from the machinery definitively delivered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), in the Pilahuín parish.

The objective is to promote agricultural mechanization through innovation processes that contribute to optimizing field work time and generating better levels of productive yields in the potato, carrot, dairy and sheep sectors.

In this sense, the benefit delivered to producers is estimated at 61,321 dollars, with eleven instruments provided, including: two tractors, five motor cultivators, two harrows, a plow and a rotavator.

The machinery has favorable characteristics for work in the field due to its large size and speed, which allows it to work in areas with difficult-to-operate soil conditions. At the same time, it performs activities such as plowing, sowing and harvesting efficiently.

On the other hand, motor cultivators are ideal for work on smaller plots and terrain that is difficult to access with larger equipment. These inputs are designed to prepare the soil, sow and perform crop maintenance. Their maneuverability and ease of use make them an indispensable tool for small producers.

Luis Poaquiza Cuji, MAG District Director in Tungurahua, highlighted the importance of organizational strengthening to obtain benefits from the different State portfolios and improve production and marketing costs. “The MAG is with the working people, you have shown unity and effort. That is being rewarded today; continue moving forward looking for better opportunities for your association,” he said.

He added that the final delivery of the machinery is part of a provincial strategy to encourage the modernization of the agricultural sector and boost Tungurahua production, an initiative that is complemented by intervention in the field through technical assistance with the entity’s staff.

Polibio Punina, a beneficiary producer, was enthusiastic about the supplies delivered to the institution and reported that “the MAG looks after the countryside, each association in Chiquicahua has benefited from a project, vehicles have been delivered and even the technicians are watching over us at the citizen fairs every weekend.”

“I am very grateful, with all my heart, for your help and the machinery you give us. We will continue to go to the MAG with jobs, we hope that you continue to meet our needs,” said producer César Huasca.
