Politico: Macron’s Allies Tell Him to Shut Up After Election Failure

Allies of the French president have advised him to end his election campaign after his coalition failed in the first round of France’s parliamentary elections.

As reported by Day.Az, the Politico newspaper writes about this, citing sources.

“He was told to stop (the election campaign – editor’s note)… And it’s not that he heard our message, rather, he was forced to hear it,” the publication quotes an unnamed representative of the French “Renaissance” party as saying.

As the newspaper points out, “the reality is that his allies do not want him to participate in the election campaign.”

Let us recall that Macron’s party suffered a crushing defeat according to the final results of the first round of parliamentary elections.

The right-wing National Rally party took first place in the first round of parliamentary elections in France, gaining 33.15% of the votes. The final figures were released by the republic’s Interior Ministry.

The left-wing alliance “New Popular Front” received 27.99% of the votes and came in second place. The coalition of the current President of the country Emmanuel Macron “Together for the Republic” took only third place with 20.04% of the votes.
