Macron explains why he doesn’t want to introduce a lockdown for the unvaccinated

by time news

French President Emmanuel Macron said that there is no need to introduce a lockdown for the unvaccinated in the country. The politician explained that there are sanitary passes in the republic, and that is enough. But now the authorities are deciding whether to make revaccination a prerequisite for extending such a pass. “As for the third dose, I am waiting for the opinion of the sanitary authorities. If it turns out that it is effective, then, of course, we will introduce it into the sanitary pass,” RIA Novosti quotes Macron.

Earlier it was reported that the French over 65 years old, vaccinated against coronavirus more than six months ago, must undergo a revaccination course by December 15, otherwise they will not be extended their sanitary passes. Since August 9, they have not been allowed to go anywhere without this document. Theaters, cafes, restaurants, nursing homes, shopping centers, medical and social institutions – all with a pass. The corresponding rules apply to citizens over 12 years old. The system of sanitary passes will be valid until July 31, 2022. Thousands of French people consider the restrictions imposed as an infringement on their freedoms.

Despite all the measures taken, epidemiological indicators in France are deteriorating. A week ago, Macron warned of the danger of the fifth wave of COVID-19.
