MADRID, September 27. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Elysée reported this Friday that the French President, Emmanuel Macron, will make a state visit to Morocco “at the end of October” at the invitation of King Mohamed VI to strengthen bilateral relations after Paris recognized the Moroccan government in July .

Mohamed VI has invited the French President in a letter to visit the country with the intention of providing the “combination” of the two countries with “a vision of innovation and passion that covers many strategic sectors and takes into account the priorities of the countries – both languages.”

The Moroccan king has highlighted the “new promising horizon” in relations between France and Morocco, countries that have historically been cultural allies, but have been estranged from each other in recent times.

The announcement of the state visit came after Macron sent a letter to Mohamed VI on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day – which commemorates the king’s dedication – in which he assured that “the present and the future of Western Sahara are organized in the City Morocco. sovereign”.

Earlier this year, Rabat expressed his hope that Paris will move forward in its position and align itself with Spain after Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said that the Moroccan strike plan for the Sahara is “the most important, reliable and real basis” for solution to conflict.

Also, since the former Foreign Minister, Stéphane Séjourné, has already left the Executive – he has been proposed as the next Commissioner of the European Union and replaced in office by Jean-Noël Barrot – diplomatic relations can take many pitfalls.

Séjourné is considered one of the main architects as the leader of New Europe (the independent group in the European Parliament) of the resolution approved in January 2023 against the Alawite government, which expressed “deep concern about the accusations of Morocco’s authorities are corrupt to the delegation. in the European Parliament”.

Following the recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the West Bank, the Algerian government announced the withdrawal “with immediate effect” of its ambassador to France, Said Musi, and reduced diplomatic relations to the level of a charade d’affaire.
