The new editorial line of JDD, Bolloré sauce, worries the ranks of the majority. Before knowing more, the leader of the Renaissance deputies Sylvain Maillard passed on the instruction not to respond to the newspaper’s requests, AFP learned this Friday from the leadership of the presidential party, confirming information from the Parisian.

Among the Macronist deputies, the question is therefore for the moment settled, while several lines emerged last week within the government, between the Minister of Transport Clément Beaune, and the Secretary of State in charge of the city Sabrina Agresti- Roubache, in particular. The latter was strongly criticized for having granted an interview to the JDD for the first issue of the Bolloré version of the newspaper, now directed by the far-right journalist Geoffroy Lejeune.

A “decency period”

“We can talk about everything, but not with anyone, or at any time”, then replied Clément Beaune on RMC. The Renaissance group in the Assembly therefore leans in favor of the line of the Minister of Transport. Asked Friday morning on France Info, the deputy of Eure-et-Loir Guillaume Kasbarian speaks of an instruction “of caution”.

But also a form of “respect” vis-à-vis the journalists of the JDD, on strike for forty days to oppose the arrival of Geoffroy Lejeune at the head of the newspaper. The leadership of the Renaissance party claims to be “exactly on the same line” as the group in the Assembly, evoking a “time limit of decency”, in solidarity with the former editorial staff of the JDD.

The refusal of the “trial of intent”

However, the deputies, like the party leadership, remain cautious and wish to adjust their position according to the evolution of the editorial line of the next issues of the JDD.

The entourage of Stéphane Séjourné, the head of Renaissance, does not wish to “impeach the intentions” of the new editorial staff, nor to assume that the line of the JDD will be modeled on that of Current Valuesthe far-right weekly newspaper previously run by Geoffroy Lejeune.
