French President Emmanuel Macron’s father Jean-Michel said his son had considered dissolving the country’s parliament back in early May, before the European Parliament (EP) elections. The man told this in an interview with the newspaper L’Est Républicain.

“As for the decision to dissolve the National Assembly, it is not related to the elections to the European Parliament, as he told me two months ago,” Jean-Michel Macron explained.

According to the politician’s father, the president believed that the French parliament had become too ungovernable.

Let us recall that in early June, Macron’s party took second place in the European Parliament elections, losing to the National Rally. After that, the French president dissolved the National Assembly and announced early elections.

In the first round of the French parliamentary elections, Marine Le Pen’s National Rally came in first with 33.2% of the vote, while Macron’s Together party came in third with 21%. The New Popular Front left-wing alliance came in second with 28.1%.
