The office of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, confirmed this Saturday (3) that the head of the Brazilian Executive, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will be in Paris on the 22nd and 23rd of June. They will meet world leaders at the Summit for a New Global Financial Compact, an event announced by Macron at COP27 (27th United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022) in November.

The objective is to discuss means of generating resources to intensify actions to combat climate change, a weakness detected last year at the climate summit, which had few concrete results from preservation and recovery activities, in the opinion of some participants.

This month’s meeting will address the reform of multilateral development banks, the debt crisis in several countries, the financing of green technologies, the creation of international taxes, financing instruments and special design rights.

The trip to Paris is part of President Lula’s intense schedule of commitments, which has at least two international trips per month planned until September.
