The power of French President Emmanuel Macron has weakened since the start of the new government, and he will not be able to restore it for the next three years.

As Day.Az reports, the European publication Politico writes about this, citing unnamed sources close to the president.

“Macron cannot act and realizes that he will not be able to regain control of power over the next three years,” noted one of the publication’s interlocutors.

The publication explains that in order to break the political impasse that arose after the early elections in the summer, Macron appointed a representative of the Republicans party, Michel Barnier, to the post of prime minister. In the elections, neither the previous ruling majority nor the opposition right and left forces were able to obtain an absolute majority.

This leaves Macron in a difficult situation, sharing power with the right, although the new government also includes some of his centrist supporters.

“The new distribution of power has worried Macron. He feels insecure and irritated that he has lost his former political influence. The changes in habits are causing frustration and can lead to a feeling of dizziness,” the sources state.

The publication also highlights that since the arrival of the new government, ministerial decisions do not reach senior management in the same way as they previously did. The data provided has become less accurate, and the president’s discussions with members of the government have become less heated. As a result, a “vacuum effect” arose in Macron’s administration, the newspaper’s interlocutor points out.
