Macy’s to host a full Thanksgiving parade

by time news

The traditional Thanksgiving parade hosted by retail giant Macy’s will finally return in November in full format. It was severely truncated last year due to the pandemic.

Mayor de Blasio and the management of the department store issued a statement in which, in particular, it is said that “this sight again, as it happened before, will bring a lot of joy to New Yorkers.”

The usual festive set is planned for the townspeople: moving platforms on which artists of different genres perform; giant inflatable figures floating in the air; marching school bands, clowns and, of course, the indispensable Santa on a reindeer sleigh.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for staff and volunteers participating in the celebration. Masks too. The audience will not be required to prove that they are vaccinated.

Last year, the size of the procession, starting from Central Park, was reduced from 10 thousand people, as it was before the pandemic, to 960. Ensembles from schools and colleges did not march in columns. The emphasis was placed not on a live show, but on showing it to a television audience. Things should be different now.

“We’re thrilled to be back on track with our favorite holiday tradition, which will be welcomed on the streets of New York and in TV viewers’ homes across the country,” said Will Coss, executive director of the event.

The 95th Macy’s Parade will take place on November 25th. It will air on NBC from 9 am to noon.
