What do a drone from Charente-Maritime, sardines in oil from Finistère, a tap from the Meuse and Corsican beer have in common? At first glance none, but in fact two: they are all made in France and are part of the 124 products presented during the Great Exhibition of Made in France, the weekend of July 1 and 2 at the Élysée Palace.

An exhibition led by Emmanuel Macron and his government

Initiated by the President of the Republic in January 2020 and accessible to the public by reservation, the exhibition returns for its third edition. Each department is represented at least once.

To be selected from among the 2,452 applicants (6% more than last year), the winners did not have to follow any particular theme. The jury composed of“actors attached to Made in France” notably welcomed Olivia Grégoire, Minister Delegate in charge of small and medium-sized enterprises, trade, crafts and tourism and Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate in charge of Industry.

“There are both artisanal products and high technology”

The jury does not seem to have had too much trouble selecting the 124 winners: “There was very often a consensus. In 4-5 hours we had decided who would be selected” explains Sophie Davant, TV presenter and president of the jury for this edition. And to add: It’s also because we’ve had some favourites, for example the fresh milk lollipops from Corrèze or the cargo bike from Indre-et-Loire”.

To apply, no need to enter a particular theme: “There are both artisanal products and high technology, products representing the professions of yesterday and those of tomorrow, we explain at the Élysée. All types of companies, all sectors taken together have been selected. We want to highlight the plurality of what our territories produce ».

Varied and committed companies

The approximately 9,000 visitors expected will be able to discover “small spelled” from Vaucluse as well as a system from Bouches-du-Rhône to replace the heat engine of old cars with an electric motor. Both insulation from Isère made from cigarette butts, tiles from Allier made from chestnut wood, and watchmaking from Polynesia.

At the Élysée, however, we insist on the coherence of the exhibition: “Three themes unite all these products: relocation, reindustrialization, decarbonization”. Sophie Davant specifies: “The selected winners are socially committed, they engage in a process of reducing their CO2 emissions, support the regional economy and participate in its development”.

The exhibition will open with a speech by Emmanuel Macron on Friday June 30. Visitors will be welcomed all weekend but will not meet exhibitors, the Élysée favoring “a museum journey”.
