Chennai: The Madras High Court dismissed the contempt of court and additional petitions seeking ban on the AIADMK General Committee.

Three additional petitions were filed in the appeal case filed by general committee member Shanmugam regarding the AIADMK general meeting held on June 23. In addition to the 23 resolutions reported to the court, it was requested that the co-coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy, general committee members CV Shanmugam, D. Jayakumar, and Dindigul Srinivasan should be punished as the decision to appoint Tamil son Usen as the permanent chairman of the House has been passed.

Additional petitions were filed asking that they should be allowed to be included as respondents in the appeal case as a punishment, and that the announcement of the next general body meeting announced by the chairman is invalid, and therefore the general body meeting to be held on July 11 should be banned.

These additional petitions came up for hearing today in a session comprising Justices M. Duraisamy and Sundar Mohan. At that time, Edappadi Palaniswami filed an order issued yesterday by the Supreme Court imposing an interim stay on the hearing of the appeal filed by Shanmugam and the hearing of the contempt of court case.

Subsequently, the judges who heard the case dismissed the three additional petitions filed on the basis of the Supreme Court ban on hearing the appeal case.
