Eight of the best trained minds on the planet play in Madrid the chess tournament of the year, from Thursday and until July 4. The tickets sold out in less than two hours, to which three factors contributed: the invisible but massive fans at the board, less noisy than those of football, affordable prices and a game room, in the Santona Palace, on the corner between Huertas and Príncipe streets, which does not admit too many spectators. The alternative is to follow the games (every day from 3:00 p.m.) via the internet. It will not be uncommon to see duels of more than five or six hours, like at Roland Garros, but without injuries. Let’s hope.
