A 7-foot-long mountain snake that wanders in search of prey in Thenakudipatti in the Kampur panchayat near Melur in Madurai district has a dog that roams the area gracefully. The dog was swallowed by a mountain snake and was unable to move out of the area. Seeing this, the shepherds immediately informed the Kottampatti fire department. Firefighters led by Station Officer Veeran rushed to the spot and tried to catch the mountain snake.
In that attempt, the swallowed dog was spewed out by the mountain snake. The python was then safely captured. It has since been handed over to the Forest Department. People in the area complained to the forest department that the mountain snake had swallowed the dog in search of prey, which could pose a threat to livestock.
