Regarding AIIMS Medical College in Madurai, DMK group leader in Lok Sabha DR. DMK MPs strongly objected to the words used by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya while replying to a question raised by Balu. As a result, there was commotion in the Lok Sabha for a few minutes during the question hour.
“DMK is politicizing the Madurai AIIMS issue and they are giving wrong information to the people,” alleged Minister Mansook Mandavia. However, the DMK MPs who refused to accept his explanation complained that the central government had not disclosed the truth regarding the opening of the medical college. What happened in Lok Sabha?
During question time in the Lok Sabha on Friday, DMK group leader DR Balu sought to raise a question regarding Madurai AIIMS. However, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla said that this issue has already been discussed.
However, Balu said that he generally asks two questions, “How many medical colleges has the central government started in India without infrastructure? How many medical colleges were laid by the Prime Minister and are still non-functional?” He questioned.
Then, another DMK member, Dayanithi Maran, who was in the back seat, remarked, “This is a question about Madurai AIIMS.”
After the speaker said again that “it is a matter of discussion”, Indian Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya offered to respond on behalf of the ruling party.
“attempt to politicize”
“”Politics can happen in any matter. Here their question is mainly about Madurai AIIMS. Madurai AIIMS Hospital College has started functioning. Not only infrastructure is established but education is initiated. I would like to inform the people of Tamil Nadu that they (DMK) are creating political problems without any reason,” said Mansook Mandavia.
Also, accusing the DMK of giving wrong information, Mandavia said, “The state government did not provide land on time so the infrastructure could not be established. It was a project funded by the Japan International Cooperative Society (JICA), and the company from Japan was unable to visit Madurai for two years. Therefore, the project was delayed and the cost increased. “Rs 1,900 crore has been allocated for Madurai AIIMS infrastructure. We have told them (the state government) everything. But if they want to do politics, there is no solution,” he said.
Even after this, the DMK MPs alleged that the minister did not give correct information.
Following this, the minister said, “I know why they are doing this. I have taken action against some colleges there (in Tamil Nadu) as they do not have adequate infrastructure facilities. In reaction to that, they are doing politics here.”
“Nothing that is said is true” – DMK
After this, DMK and Congress MPs protested again.
“You go and look at the document properly. Nothing is true,” said DR. Balu said. DMK members voiced their support for him.
Speaking among their supporters, Mandavia said, “The Moti government will not allow such illegal activities. Such strict action will be taken against the erring medical colleges.”
Some MPs from the then ruling Bharatiya Janata Party stood up and raised their voices in support of Mandavia.
Without standing still, he said, “Modi does what he says. AIIMS Medical College works are going on in Madurai. It should not be said that the college is not functioning there. The medical college has been organized and students are studying together during the academic year. The only delay is the establishment of infrastructure facilities in Madurai. We will complete the construction of the medical college.” Mantavia.
Some of the words spoken by the minister were not heard due to the voices raised by the opposition members.
“Blackmey The minister does“
DR. Balu stood up and said, “The minister is making false accusations.”
DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran stood up and said, “How can the minister threaten us that the noose around all of you will be tightened without answering a direct question. Who is he to say this?” He questioned angrily. He also asked how a minister can blackmail us.
The speaker then said that he would consider and document who spoke what. There was an uproar in the Lok Sabha on this issue for a few minutes.
