The exchange of insults between the two presidents is recurrent: Maduro has called Milei a “fascist”, a “Nazi” and a “mistake of history”, while the Argentine president has called Maduro a “dictator” and an “impoverishing socialist”, not recognizing his controversial re-election.
Maduro, seeing a poster with Maradona’s face in the audience, commented: “Here is Diego with us, the Diego of the people. How much is Diego needed to tell Milei his four truths.” Then, he asked the audience a question: “Do you think it’s a good idea for me to pull his legs? I don’t let him sleep, kid, he does so much harm to the people,” referring to Milei again as a “Nazi.”

Maduro also recalled a special gift from Maradona, who was very close to Chavismo, a Hublot watch valued at more than 30 thousand dollars, which the Argentine footballer gave him at the end of the 2018 campaign. “I put it on today because it brings me luck. This is the watch that Diego Armando Maradona gave me, and when I put it on, Diego is with me,” said Maduro.
Maradona, considered one of the best footballers in history, passed away at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020.
