The shipping company Muller-Marsk has announced a new feeder service between Port Said, the northern entrance of the Suez Canal in the Mediterranean, and the Wadu Gate in the Italian port of Genoa, one of the most important and busy ports in the country. A statement issued by Maersk on Wednesday said that the first ship under this new service, with a cargo of 3,000 notLeave the container terminal SCCT Of the Suez Canal, east of Port Said, on July 8 and will reach the port of Genoa on July 14.
Maersk explained in its announcement that this service is designed to reduce transit times between 5 and 21 days from Asia to northern Italy, depending on the place of departure of the source of goods in Busan in Korea, or Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, and China in China, given the unpredictable operating environment in the market today.
The terminal in East Port Said, which is a shipping center in the eastern Mediterranean, has been operating since October 2004. Ownership of the terminal is divided as follows: 55% of the shares are owned APM COSCO10% owned by the Suez Canal Authority and its subsidiaries, 5% by the National Bank of Egypt while the Egyptian private sector holds 10% of the ownership.
