Maersk unveiled a design for ships running on methanol

by time news

Maersk revealed yesterday in a tweet on Twitter and in a post on LinkedIn the new design of the company’s new container ships: ships that run on green fuel. Four container ships are currently being built at the “Hyundai Mipo” shipyards and are scheduled to be delivered to the company during the summer months.

The ships – which will be used as feed ships according to the company’s announcement – have a dual propulsion system and will be able to operate using green methanol.

Ole Graa Jacobsen, Head of Fleet Technology of A.P. Moller., said that “I am very happy with the progress we are making in the project. We have now completed all major design milestones and production is moving at full speed with delivery expected during the summer. It was a huge project, but we succeeded in no small part thanks to great collaboration internally at Maersk and with our external partners.’

Brian Borup, Senior Brand and Design Director: “We used the phrase ‘all the way to zero’ to build on our existing brand platform and highlight our efforts in the area of carbon emissions. It must be remembered that the ship is a new generation that operates using green methanol.’
