Weather conditions along the coast of South Africa will be extreme in the next few days. According to the Danish shipping company Maersk, ships may find themselves in a difficult situation due to strong winds, high waves and heavy rain, especially between the cities of Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
Maersk does not rule out that merchant ships will have to change course to escape the elements. Delays in cargo delivery are possible, the company warns.
As the conflict in Gaza escalated, Ansar Allah (the Houthis) warned that it would shell Israel and prevent ships associated with it from transiting the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb until the operation in the Palestinian enclave was stopped. As the Houthis intensified their attacks, Maersk and other companies restricted transit through the Red Sea, rerouting ships to Asia around the Cape of Good Hope in southern Africa.
