For the second year in a row and for the third time in the history of the Super League, the RFS team became the Latvian football champion, which won the necessary away victory against Grobiņas SC/LSF (2:0) in the game of the penultimate round and became out of reach of the closest follower, Riga FC. “Magic season,” the phrase invoked by club president Arjom Milov at the beginning of the season after the second trophy in less than a week could be chanted by the fans, but coach Vikotrs Moroz soberly reminded: “Maybe someone thinks it was easy, but it was definitely not easy.”
Apart from the victory in the Latvian Championship and the Latvian Cup, the RFS footballers also achieved their third goal this season and for the second time in history are participating in the main tournament of the Eurocups. It could even be said that the task is overcrowded, because at the beginning of the season, the club president Milov set entry into the UEFA Conference League as one of his goals, but the Latvian champions were even one step higher and will host the Belgian giants on Thursday in the fourth game of the main UEFA Europa League tournament. Anderlecht. “Not everyone understands it, but every victory is a huge effort. What everyone sees is only its result. The start of the season was not easy, there were many difficulties, but at the moment the team is in great shape and form. At this point it was already difficult to stop us,” the dynamics of the season were marked by coach Moroz. On their way to the title, RFS have won 21 of their last 24 Premier League games since the start of May, drawing twice with Riga FC and once conceding to FC Hear it. Such an excellent performance was necessary because the competitors were also at the level. Riga FC experienced its last loss in the Premier League even earlier - on April 16 – but the stumbles experienced in the first round of the season and a couple of draws in the continuation paid very dearly, so the most ambitious and the richest Latvian club was left without the coveted trophy for the fourth year in a row.
