Magistrate shot down during protest in Xalapa

The magistrate of the Second Collegiate Court for Civil Matters of the Seventh Circuit, José Manuel de Alba De Alba, was shot down, allegedly by security personnel of the Congress of Veracruzduring a protest against the reform of the Federal Judicial Branch Xalapa.

In a video posted on social media, the judge can be seen lying on the floor, covering his face with his hands while people around him call for an ambulance to treat him.

A loudspeaker reports that the attack on De Alba De Alba occurred when security forces kicked down the door of the building, hitting him in the face, while other protesters recorded security personnel from the local congress.

Veracruz media reported that the judge remained on the ground for several minutes, apparently dizzy from the blow and the intense heat during the protest in which he participated.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to assess the judge’s health, according to press reports from the Veracruz capital.
