Maguchikh explained the photo from Lasitskene: “The enemy is ready for anything”

Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh posted a post on Instagram explaining what happened after the high jumper won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. This is how she reacted to the persecution arranged by the mi-for a joint photo with the Russian woman Maria Lasitskene, taken after her performance at the Games.

According to her, performing at the Olympics was a dream and the meaning of her life. And so, “not only the height, but also the Olympic medal” obeyed her.

Maguchikh admitted that she was delighted with the success. “At such moments I want to hug the whole world,” she said on Instagram. At the same time, Yaroslava assured her subscribers that it was an honor for her to “belong to the ranks of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to her, they were defending the country in the Donbass.

As a result, Maguchikh noted that she was loyal to Ukraine and understood what had happened. “I want to urge everyone to be careful, because the enemy is ready for anything,” the athlete warned.

Earlier Maguchikh said that there was no political connotation in her photo with the Russian Olympic champion Maria Lasitskene. She added that she is grateful to people and for criticism, because this experience makes her stronger.

Before that, the vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Igor Lysov supported the friendship between the athletes. He stressed that athletes are not to blame for what is happening in politics.

After the end of the competition at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the athletes were photographed with the flags of Ukraine and the ROC. Lasitskene won gold, Maguchikh – bronze.

After that, many politicians in Ukraine spoke negatively about the act of the Maguchikhs. Thus, People’s Deputy Sobolev noted that when one of the Ukrainians “publicly hugs their Russian colleagues, you feel despair and pain.” Another politician Borislav Bereza offered to take athletes before the competition to the ATO Museum and a military hospital. Meanwhile, Yaroslava was hounded on the Web by Ukrainian nationalists.
