On the eve of Maha Shivaratri, devotees worshiped at Shiva temples across the country and more than 3 lakh devotees took a holy bath in the Ganges yesterday.
A large number of devotees have been anointed and worshiped at the Mangameshwar temples on the banks of the Nagasuki and Yamuna rivers in the city of Taraganj in Uttar Pradesh since yesterday morning on the eve of Maha Shivaratri. Also, more than 3 lakh devotees took holy bath in the Ganges, officials said. For the convenience of the devotees, facilities including 650 modern toilets and parking were made in the vicinity of the temples.
Similarly, a makeshift hospital and first aid centers were also operational. Similarly, devotees worshiped at Shiva temples across the country.
Shiva temples all over Tamil Nadu celebrate Maha Shivaratri as the biggest worship. The Maha Shivaratri festival was celebrated in all the world famous Shiva temples in the temple town of Kanchipuram. On the eve of Maha Shivaratri, various special anointings and decorations were made for Lord Shiva and displayed to the devotees.
In the private wedding hall near the Kanchipuram Bamboo Hall, the ice lingam was set up for the darshan of the devotees on the eve of Maha Shivaratri and resembles the world famous Himalayan Amarnath ice lingam in real print. In particular, the path to the Amarnath Pulingam was as realistic as the pilgrims going through the forest and mountains and the public was arranged to visit the snow lingam.
Tens of thousands of people from Kanchipuram and its environs, who had never met the Himalayan Amarnath Pulingam in person, waited in long queues for several hours to see the ice lingam that had been set up.
