This is stated by the provincial councillor for security, Ulli Mair, who reiterates her “full support” for the work of the police commissioner.
According to Mair, “some media and political forces are trying to radically delegitimize the modus operandi of the police commissioner Paolo Sartori. In particular, with regard to left-wing extremists and anarchists, one can observe a questionable reversal between perpetrator and victim”. “The death threats by left-wing extremists against the police commissioner have led to numerous demonstrations of solidarity by the civilian population in recent weeks – adds Mair – On the other hand, some political forces and some media have distinguished themselves by demonstrations of understanding towards left-wing extremists, which is highly worrying from the point of view of the rule of law”.
The councilor also emphasizes the need to punish violence against the police more severely, announcing the presentation of a motion in the provincial council that will ensure that “violence against police officers no longer goes unpunished.”
