Whiskey powerhouse Pernod Ricard is strengthening its domestic champagne lineup. In line with the global popularity of Korean food, we are introducing a new luxury champagne that emphasizes a gastronomic experience. Amid the recent whiskey boom, Pernod Ricard is launching a new whiskey brand, ‘THE DEACON’, for the first time in 20 years and is strengthening its presence in the liquor market with its various brands.
Pernod Ricard Korea unveiled the new Grand Cru ‘BLANCS DE NOIRS 2018 (BLANCS DE NOIRS 2018)’ of the champagne brand Maison Mumm RSRV at Maison Le Circle in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 1st. Blanc de Noirs 2018 is the fourth domestic product of Maison Mumm RSRV, the official champagne partner of the Michelin Guide Seoul & Busan 2024. It is scheduled to be officially sold starting next year at a price in the mid to high 100,000 won range.
According to Pernod Ricard Korea, Blanc de Noirs 2018 is characterized by an elegant and delicate taste, and its complex aroma and unique personality provide exquisite balance. It is said that 2018 was a suitable time to produce good cuvée (grape juice extracted from the first pressing) with near-perfect climatic conditions. It is blended with Pinot Noir grapes harvested in Verzenay, Montagne de Reims, and aged for at least 6 years.
RSRV, which officially entered the Korean market for the first time in 2022, is the private collection of Maison Mum, a champagne house established in 1827 and with a history of about 200 years. The Private Collection is Maison Mum’s special line that was limited to important customers and wasRSRV, Maison Mumm’s private collection, pursues only the highest quality without compromise and produces only small quantities. It is also a premium line among the Maison Mum collection. In Korea, there are currently three types: Maison Mumm RSRV Cuvée 4.5 (around 100,000 won), Maison Mumm RSRV Cuvée Blanc de Blancs 2015 (mid to high 100,000 won), and Maison Mumm RSRV Cuvée Lalou 2013 (around 300,000 won, changed from 2008 to 2013 vintage). It’s on sale. Starting next year, the lineup will expand to a total of four types, including the new Maison Mum RSRV Blanc de Noir 2018. At the new product launch event on this day, Maison Mumm cellar master Yann Munier attended and introduced the new product. Maison Mumm cellarmaster Yann Munnier said, “The Grand Cru (highest grade vineyard) Blanc de Noirs 2018 is the best terroir (wine or “It is a masterpiece champagne created from four factors that determine the taste and quality of champagne: climate, soil, terrain, and ecosystem.” He added, “We are providing the best gastronomic experience with K-food, which has recently received a lot of attention around the world. “We expect it to be completed,” he said.
compatibility between Maison Mum RSRV champagne and food in line with the popularity of K-food. It has a differentiated taste and flavor even when drunk alone, but it is said to be compatible with food so well that it was selected as an official partner by the Michelin Guide Seoul & Busan. Pernod Ricard Korea said that Maison Mumm RSRV Champagne provides a new gastronomic experience through a sense of balance that does not go against the taste of the dish.
For tasting, the entry product Maison Mum RSRV Cuvée 4.5 was prepared. Although it is considered an entry-level product due to its lowest price range among products sold domestically, Cuvée 4.5 is a 100% Grandcure champagne blended with the highest quality Pinot Noir and Sardonnay and aged for at least four years. It was introduced as having the most vibrant taste and aroma among the Maison Mum RSRV collection. It starts with a sweet taste and rich bubbles, then adds fresh fruit flavors such as apricot, and ends with a refreshing feeling. You can also feel the caramel flavor.
It is said to have a heavy texture, but perhaps because I drank it briefly, it felt light like a drink rather than heavy. it is a sweet and fruity champagne that is suitable for those who are not good at alcohol to enjoy lightly. In fact, Cuvée 4.5 Champagne is said to be a luxury champagne that is so popular among domestic consumers who enjoy gourmet food that many people taste it once and purchase it in large quantities.
The bottle is said to be a design inspired by a 19th century water bottle. The cut-shaped label at the top right corner is known as the Maison Mum RSRV brand signature. In the past, when products were sold only to a small number of people, one side of the label was folded to indicate the recipient, which led to the unique label design.
