Back in 2016, a special exhibition in the Amethyst World Maissau focused on the glowing stones. At that time, numerous rare pieces were purchased, most of which were lying dormant in archives. “This exhibition was a huge hit back then, and we decided to make these color wonders accessible to the public again,” explains managing director Gerhard Stark.

At the opening in the Edelsteinhaus, he highlighted the award he had just received as show garden of the year 2023, presented by the state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. An ensemble from Stadtmusik Maissau provided the musical accompaniment to the ceremony, which was attended by celebrities from politics and culture as well as the numerous silent partners of Amethyst Welt Maissau GmbH.

Stark explained the luminosity of the stones, which is related to the phenomenon of fluorescence and only becomes visible through ultraviolet light. Mayor Franz Kloiber and member of the state parliament Richard Hogl answered questions from marketing manager Irene Tutschek about the Amethyst World.

Kloiber spoke about the Amethyst World as an important employer in the municipality with 23 employees and a key economic factor in the Schmidatal-Manhartsberg region. Hogl praised the excursion destination as a tourist magnet in Lower Austria.

Finally, Gerhard Stark explained the other highlights of this year: the opening of what is currently Austria’s only chakra marble run, which extends over several exciting stations, and the large-scale new water features, which are intended to be a fixture for children, especially in the warm season. Date: May 17th. From July onwards, the gemstone house will also be accessible without a guided tour using a media guide.

The official opening of the special exhibition “Colour Miracle & Luminosity” was carried out by MP Hogl as part of a first tour under the glowing arch in the Edelsteinhaus.

Employee Elisabeth Haberl and her team ensured a convivial end to the opening day with a perfect buffet. District captain Karl-Josef Weiss, several mayors, deputy mayors and former mayors of the Schmidatal-Manhartsberg region as well as regional chairman Peter Steinbach did not miss this.
