## Argentine Sailors Claim Silver in Nacra 17
Argentine sailors Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco secured the silver medal in Nacra 17 after finishing seventh in the Medal Race. Italy claimed gold, while New Zealand took bronze.
The duo finished with 67 points, trailing only the Italian pair Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, who scored 51 points.
Until this Thursday, the only medal for the Argentine delegation in Paris 2024 was the gold won by José “El Maligno” Torres in BMX. This Friday, Las Leonas will aim for another medal in women’s hockey: they face Belgium in the bronze medal match.
The Argentine Duo’s Medal Race
Majdalani and Bosco had to fight from behind after initially turning around at the start due to a flag indicating a boat had started too late. Ultimately, the boat that started late was Great Britain, which was disqualified.
The Argentines then had a close battle with the New Zealanders, and their one-position advantage secured them the silver medal.
Sailing: A Golden Run for Argentina
With this triumph, sailing has solidified itself as Argentina’s most reliable path to Olympic success.
Excluding the Tokyo Games, Argentine sailors have consistently won medals since Atlanta 1996. Their last gold came in the mixed multihull event, with Santiago Lange and Cecilia Carranza in the boat.
