Sailors Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco completed a brilliant day in the mixed multihull class and came very close to securing a medal after the seventh, eighth and ninth races of the Olympic competition. With a third place and two second places, they moved up to second place overall, with three races remaining and the medal race, which awards double points.

After an uneven second day, in which they had lost ground, Majdalani and Bosco recovered the performance of the first day of competition and were once again fully in the fight for a medal. In the opening race they finished third, behind the Italians Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, the solid leaders in the general classification, and the New Zealanders Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson, who were the runners-up until then.

In the next race, the Argentines followed the French Tim Mourniac and Lou Berthomieu and narrowed the gap with respect to the New Zealanders, who finished fourth, and the Italians, who finished sixth. And they repeated the same in the ninth race, when they were second behind the Swedes Emil Jarudd and Hanna Jonsson. And there they managed to close the gap with respect to the Italians, who were again sixth, and caught up with the New Zealanders, who finished ninth.

In this way, Majdalani and Bosco have accumulated 28 points and are 14 behind the leaders. The New Zealanders have the same number of points, but since the Argentines have accumulated more second places, they are ahead in the classification. In fourth place are the British John Gimson and Anna Burnet, who have 38 points and are the reference for fighting for the medal.

The last three races are scheduled for Tuesday, which will determine the ten qualifiers for the medal race, which will be run on Wednesday and which awards double points. Therefore, the chances of the Argentines getting on the podium are very concrete.
