“Major Petko Dimitrov was one of the pilots with the greatest flight”, said the Deputy Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Tsanko Stoykov on the occasion of the tragic accident in Graf Ignatievo, in which two pilots died.
“A heavy loss. It is difficult to talk about people you knew in the past tense. I knew Major Dimitrov well, we flew with him. I can say that he is one of the most prepared pilots for our air base in Dolna Mitropolia. A wonderful person and a wonderful friend,” Stoykov told BNT.
“I only knew the younger boy by face, we didn’t have the opportunity to contact him, but his loss is heavy, because as far as I understand he was very motivated in his work,” he commented.
“The obvious reason is that the plane crashed. From now on, there is an investigation. Two commissions are working. They have not given any information so far, except that they found the black box. It has to be seen to be technically sound and the data of all the parameters should be taken down on the flight. Nothing can be said at this stage, as there is no information,” the deputy chief of defense said.
“The team that prepares the training equipment would never allow malfunctioning aviation equipment into flight. After the aircraft has taken off, it has passed all checks and is allowed to participate in the training as fit,” he explained.
