Famous filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who is known for his frank opinion on every issue, expressed his views on the trend of making films on mythological stories. He also warned filmmakers that making films on such subjects is very dangerous. Ram Gopal Varma also expressed his views on Ranbir Kapoor starrer Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’. He also mentioned Prabhas starrer ‘Adipurush’. Ram Gopal Varma also told the way by which filmmakers can avoid controversy while making religious films. Ram Gopal Varma was asked a question on the trend of making films on mythology in an interview given to ‘Galata Plus’. On this, he said that making mythological films in the country is very dangerous because it can anger people. He also said that such films may have worked in the past, but now without any controversy, the chances of them being successful at the box office are very low.

“Instead of calling it ‘Ramayana’, create a new story, don’t do branding”
‘My point is why not make a new story and call it Ramayana? If you sell ‘Adipurush’ as Prabhas’ film, people will see it differently. But, if I am told that it is ‘Ramayana’, I will see it differently.’ Ram Gopal Varma said that controversy can be avoided by showing the story in a new form without branding it as ‘Ramayana’.
