Pastor and businessman Silas Malafaia used social media to react against a lawsuit being processed by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), which could leave former President of the Republic Jair Messias Bolsonaro ineligible for the next eight years of public life.
For the lead pastor of the Vitória em Cristo Assembly of God Church (ADVEC), the lawsuit filed against Bolsonaro will not be judged impartially. This is because, Malafaia believes that the President of the Court, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, is a “political enemy” of the former president.
“Do you think there will be a principle of justice and impartiality in Bolsonaro’s trial at the TSE? The president of the TSE, Alexandre de Moraes, Bolsonaro’s political enemy. He was the one who received superpowers in the 2022 elections from the other ministers,” said Pastor Malafaia.
Afterwards, the religious leader also recalled that the rapporteur of the action against the former president, Minister Benedito Gonçalves – the same one who went viral on social networks when he appeared to receive “pats” on the face, given by President Lula – was nominated by Lula.
“Now, who is the rapporteur for the Bolsonaro case? Benedito Gonçalves, nominated by Lula in 2008. According to Folha de São Paulo, he dreams of being a minister of the STF. That’s the one who was the rapporteur for the Dallagnol case. That shameful, immoral, illegal impeachment, contrary to the law. And he is the rapporteur for the Bolsonaro case”, fired the pastor.
On God’s hands
Last week, when commenting on the risk of becoming ineligible, Jair Bolsonaro said that his political future was in the hands of God. He also called the judgment at the TSE “political”, suggesting that it was an action brought by political interests and not by legal grounds.
