Malayali researchers in Oman with advanced technology for Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis

Muscat: Researchers in Oman have developed an artificial intelligence powered medical device (Ganglionav) to speed up Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Professor of Computer Science at the Arab Open University of Oman Dr. The research was led by Sherimon P.C. Royal Oman Police Hospital, Dr. Rahul V Nair, Dr. Renji Mathew Kurian, Dr. Khalid Shaikh, University of Technology of Applied Science, Dr. Vinu Sherimon is in the research team.

Their research excellence has resulted in an artificial intelligence neurologist to perform cognitive assessment on suspected Alzheimer’s patients and a medical device called Ganglionav to help detect Alzheimer’s disease at an early stage. About 60 percent of dementia cases are caused by an irreversible neurological disorder known as Alzheimer’s disease. The research aims to help doctors in the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
