Dubai – It has been eight months since the Malayali woman entrepreneur in the UAE started waiting for the registration of the vehicle imported from abroad in Kerala. Haseena Nishad, the managing director of UAE-based World Star Holdings, a native of Kannur, has a Range Rover Defender registration worth Rs. The same model vehicles plying in the state, including those of prominent film actors in Kerala, have been registered without producing this certificate. So they are very worried that why they alone are not able to put the vehicle on the road.

Eight months ago, Hasina approached Kannur RTO for vehicle registration. He also paid half a lakh rupees to the RTO to get a fancy number for the Land Rover Defender worth around one and a half crore rupees. Also, a huge amount of road tax was paid. But the registration was not done and the number and money were lost. The response of the showroom authorities who had to provide this certificate was that the Motor Vehicle Act 2019 said that the vehicle can be registered without a DGFT clearance certificate and therefore this certificate cannot be issued. But AMVI is not ready to accept this. Hasina and her family are in a crisis.

The young woman had to travel back home many times to solve the problem. Hasina, who is now in Dubai, said that many vehicles, including in Kannur, have been registered without this clearance certificate earlier and she is being troubled because she is a non-resident entrepreneur and she has been worried for the past 8 months.

∙ DGFT Clearance Certificate Mandatory: AMVI
Kannur AMVI Saji Joseph Manorama told Online that DGFT clearance certificate is mandatory to register foreign vehicles in Kerala. This certificate should be issued by the dealers who imported the vehicle in Kerala. Uploading them online is the only problem. Without this certificate, vehicles may have been mistakenly registered in Kerala. This will be detected during auditing and the culprits will have to pay a fine. This warning issued by the auditors of the motor vehicle department is communicated to all those who come to register a foreign vehicle. Nothing particularly against expatriate entrepreneur Hasina Nishad. He also stated that they were informed that registration cannot be done without a certificate as they are bound to follow the law.
