Coach Kim Pang-gon went to Ulsan last July to replace Hong Myung-bo.
The Malaysian national soccer team, which had maintained a temporary coaching system after coach Kim Pan-gon was appointed as Ulsan HD’s head coach, appointed Australian Peter Klamowski as the official coach.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced on the 16th that it would appoint Klamowski as the national team coach.
Coach Kim Pang-gon, who led Malaysia to the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup finals, resigned from his position last July and took over as Ulsan coach, succeeding coach Hong Myung-bo.
Afterwards, the Malaysian Football Association did not select an official manager, but entrusted the role of acting manager to head coach Pau Matri (Spain), who had assisted Manager Kim.
Acting coach Matri plans to lead the Malaysian national team until the 2024 ASEAN (AFF) Championship, which is currently underway.
As the coach of the Australian national team at the 2015 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup, new coach Klamovsky helped coach Anger Postekoglou (current Tottenham coach) win the championship. Afterwards, he served as a coach in the J-League, including Shimizu S Pulse, Montedio Yamagata, and FC Tokyo (Japan).
Coach Klamovsky will lead Malaysia from the final qualifiers for the 2027 Asian Cup starting in March next year.
Malaysia was placed in Group F with Vietnam, led by coach Kim Sang-sik, Laos and Nepal, led by coach Ha Hyuk-jun, in the final preliminary round of the tournament. After four teams play the full league home and away, the first place in the group will advance to the finals.
