Malaysia imposes ban on poultry exports The Malaysian government has banned the export of poultry to curb soaring domestic prices.
Malaysian poultry is mainly exported to Singapore. One-third of the chicken bought in Singapore was from Malaysia. The ban on exports to Malaysia is a setback for Singapore, which favors a chicken-based diet.

Malaysia exports 36 lakh chickens per month. Most of the exports are to Singapore. However, the current ban on exports has led to a sharp rise in the price of chicken dishes in Singapore.
