Burn told Malaysian newspaper Berita Harian, translated from Malay. I called and patted [him], but there was no response. His body was already cold.
The Incident and Immediate Response
Festival staff rushed Talib to the nearby Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after receiving respiratory assistance. His older brother, Raja, confirmed to Berita Harian that the cause of death was reportedly heart complications. Talib had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and had been hospitalized twice in June for heart-related issues. It is possible that extreme fatigue took a toll
on his heart, Raja said, noting that Talib had attended a BMX competition immediately before the festival.
Witnesses described the moment as alarming. Burn said Talib had appeared happy to meet up with friends
and showed no signs of illness before the performance.
Meditasi’s Legacy and History
Talib was a drummer of Meditasi, which originally formed in 1983 under the name Metal Wizard before rebranding in 1989. The band rose to fame during the golden era of Malaysian rock in the 1990s, known for Malay-language rock and power ballads. After a temporary hiatus, they reunited in 2015 and currently have over 46,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Their 1990 self-titled debut album and later works like “Demi Rindu” and “Bidadari” remain staples of their discography.
The band’s history includes a shift from a metal image to a more melodic sound. Meditasi’s original lineup included Talib on drums, with Atan as his predecessor. The group’s 1990s hits, such as Biar Pedih Kasih Memanjang

Talib’s health issues had been ongoing. His brother revealed that he was hospitalized twice in June for heart problems, with the first stay lasting two to three weeks.
