Malegaon: Witness defection continues; Narrated by 26 people 2008 Malegaon blast trial

MUMBAI ∙ The twenty-sixth witness in the 2008 Malegaon blast case also defected. BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur, Lieut. Colonel Prasad Purohit and others who testified against them in the case are changing their stand one after another.

A month before the explosion, the employee of the hotel where Purohit and other accused stayed, gave the statement yesterday. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, which investigated the case in the first phase, found that the bike in which the explosion happened belonged to Pragya. The officer who conducted the forensic examination of the bike then defected last week in favor of Pragya Singh.

In September 2008, a bomb exploded on a bike parked near a mosque in Malegaon, killing 9 people and injuring 90 others.
