Attention is focused on the watch that Oh Sang-wook (Daejeon City Hall), the first individual gold medalist from South Korea at the 2024 Paris Olympics, received from Omega, the official Olympic timekeeper.

According to industry sources on the 4th, Omega presented Oh Sang-wook with the ‘Seamaster Diver 300M – Paris 2024 Olympic Commemorative Edition’.

Oh Sang-wook won the gold medal in the men’s individual sabre fencing event on the 27th of last month (local time), giving the South Korean team its first gold medal.

Omega previously announced, “We will present the two watches produced to commemorate the Paris Olympics to two individual athletes, one male and one female, who win the first gold medals in the Korean national team at the Games.”

The Paris Olympic Edition watches are the ‘Speedmaster Chronoscope’ and the ‘Seamaster Diver 300M’. The prices for the two watches are 14.2 million won and 12.9 million won, respectively. Both watches have the Olympic emblem and the phrase ‘PARIS 2024’ engraved on the back.

The watch owners are Oh Sang-wook, who won the first gold medal at the Paris Olympics, and Oh Ye-jin (IBK) in shooting.

The Speedmaster Chronoscope watch that Oh Sang-wook received uses 18K Moonshine Gold, a yellow gold alloy, for the bezel and dial. The stainless steel used together prevents discoloration and adds shine.

The single dot at the 12 o’clock position on the bezel, the indexes, and the hour marks are treated with white Super-LumiNova to glow. The white ceramic dial has a polished wave pattern.

The date window at 6 o’clock features a number using Paris 2024 typography, while the second hand features a flame motif, the Paris 2024 emblem. The words ‘Paris 2024’ and the Olympic rings are expressed in polished stainless steel.

Omega will also award a watch to Oh Ye-jin, the first gold medalist in a women’s individual event.

This is the fifth time that Omega has presented its Olympic Edition watches, having been presented at the 2012 London Olympics, 2014 Sochi, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, and 2022 Beijing Olympics.

At the 2012 London Games, Jin Jong-oh (shooting) was the first to receive a watch. At the 2014 Sochi Games, speed skating Lee Sang-hwa received a watch, and at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, the men’s archery team received a watch. At the 2022 Beijing Games, short track speed skating Hwang Dae-heon and Choi Min-jeong received the benefit.
