The Malian Mali-Morocco Friendship Association (Amama) held its ordinary general meeting last week at the Olympe hotel in Bamako. Two essential points were on the agenda. Proofreading of texts and renewal of the executive office.

The opening of the works of this general assembly, in addition to the members of Amama, recorded the presence of the representative of the ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Mali, El Qaïsy Abdelillah, of the dean of the association the former minister policy Prof. Younouss Hamèye Dicko. Thus during the work, the members of the association took stock of the activities carried out and drew up the moral and financial report of the organization. With regard to the activities carried out in recent years by this association, which works to strengthen the age-old bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the brotherly peoples of Mali and Morocco, we can cite, among other things, the strong mobilization of the members of the ‘Amama during the reception of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Mali, the Association’s participation in discussions on trade between the two countries, the press statement on relations between Mali and Morocco at the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty Mohammed VI, the organization of Mali-Morocco days at the Palace of Culture, obtaining scholarships from the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) study in Morocco for four young Malian students, the organization of a caravan of support for the Lions of the Atlas of Morocco and the installation of a giant screen to allow the many supporters to follow the matches of Morocco.

The highlight of this general assembly was the renewal of the bodies of the association and the proofreading of the texts.

With regard to the election of the new office, the investiture committee set up by the assembly opted for a consensual office of 23 members composed mainly of women, headed by the outgoing president, the Honorable Moussa Diarra, former deputy for Ségou. . “We are really limited by the texts otherwise it was up to the members of the association, the Honorable Moussa Diarra will be the president of this association for life. He is someone who gives himself body and soul to this association on a daily basis”. testified a member of the nomination committee. “I accept with pleasure this great honor that you are doing me, for 15 years that you have accompanied me and gone further. I congratulate the committee of nomination for the choice of an office composed mainly of women. It is an exceptional choice, rare but good”, acknowledged President Moussa Diarra. He asked the members of the new office to commit themselves to this association and especially to the strengthening of the Mali-Morocco bilateral cooperation and the rapprochement of the two brotherly peoples.

This general meeting was used to deliver a painting (the replica of the Timbuktu gate) to the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation for its unwavering support for the association.

For his part, the representative of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco hailed the revitalization of relations between the two countries. To do this, he also appreciated the objectives that this association has set itself before reiterating the availability of the Kingdom of Morocco to support not only Amama but also the authorities of the transition for the recovery of the country.
