– It’s just the dream, as big as the soccer World Cup, says Malin Åkerman, who grew up in Canada, but has strong ties to her parents’ homeland. Her personal Eurovision favorite is “Making Your Mind Up”, which Britain entered in 1981 – and where Åkerman’s mother-in-law was responsible for the choreography.
The actor has appeared in American films and TV series such as «Rock of Ages», «Watchmen», «Entourage» and «Billions».
Petra Mede has led the Eurovision Song Contest twice before, first in 2013 – when the broadcast also went from Malmö, and then together with Måns Zelmerlöw in 2016.
– It’s a bit of a kamikaze mission, says Mede. How the presenter’s job will take shape is not yet clear, but TT writes that, after all, it is 50 years since ABBA won with “Waterloo”.
– Without saying too much, I think it would have been cool to reminisce a bit and take stock of these 50 years that Sweden has been a prominent Eurovision participant, answers Petra Mede.
Regarding the conflict situation in which this year’s Eurovision is organized, she refers to the EBU and SVT and their possible intervention, and adds:
– As a human being, you are incredibly affected by the state the world is in.
