Malin Akerman: Who is the presenter of Eurovision 2024

by time news

The Eurovision 2024 final has begun in Malmö, Sweden. Greece competes with Marina Satti and “Zari” in 12th place. However, the 68th music competition is taking place in a tense atmosphere.

There are many artists who react to the involvement of Israel and the atrocities committed in Gaza. In the hours before kick-off, chaos erupted with Spain threatening to pull out at the last minute, Ireland missing the final rehearsal, France interrupting theirs to send a message about the war in the Middle East, while Alessandra Mele will not show Norway’s score.

In today’s final (11/5) the two presenters who were in both semi-finals remain. They are the comedian Petra Miande and the actress Malin Akerman. In fact, the 45-year-old Malin reminds us of something, and this is because we have seen her in many Hollywood films.

Where have we seen Malin Akerman before?

Malin, who was born in Stockholm but grew up near Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada, is famous for several Hollywood films. The Swedish-Canadian actress has also dabbled in music, having been a member of the alternative rock band ‘The Petalstones’ before her burgeoning acting career.

Malin was born in Stockholm, Sweden on May 12, 1978 to a model mother and an insurance worker father, who raised the actress as a Buddhist. At the age of 5, her family took the plunge and moved to Canada, although she can still speak Swedish, later helping in her first Swedish film role ‘A Piece of My Heart’ in 2019.

The first big role

Malin was briefly signed to the famous American agency Ford Models after being spotted at a local mall. She saw her name on the Hollywood scene in 2005 when she landed the role of Juna in the HBO TV series ‘The Comeback’.

But her first major role was starring in the 2006 comedy The Seven Day Itch opposite Ben Stiller. The film follows a couple’s honeymoon in Mexico that falls apart as Ben’s character Eddie falls in love with another woman other than his wife Lila, played by Malin.

Two years later, in 2009, Malin starred in the superhero film Watchmen as Silk Specter II. The film is set in 1985 where a group of retired convicts investigate a conspiracy against them.

In 2010, he starred in the sitcom Childrens Hospital, which ended in 2016. He starred in four films in 2012, including the comedy Wanderlust and the musical Rock of Ages. She had her first leading role on television in the short-lived sitcom Trophy Wife (2013–2014). He also starred in the films I’ll See You in My Dreams (2015) and the blockbuster Rampage (2018).

Musician and singer

The talented actress has also worked as a musician and was the lead singer of the rock band ‘The Petalstones’ before turning to acting. She also appeared in the rom-com ‘The Proposal’ in 2009, playing Gertrude, the ex-girlfriend of Andrew (Ryan Reynolds).

She also guest-starred on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother and played Alex Altman on ABC’s Suburgatory.

She has been married twice, from 2007 to 2014 to Petalstones drummer Roberto Zincone, with whom she has a son, and since 2018 to British actor Jack Donnelly.
