The Man Appellate Court has ordered that the petitions filed against former state minister Sanath Nishantha for contempt of court be called for hearing on February 02.
The said judgment has been issued today (31).
These petitions were taken up for hearing today before a bench of Justices Sobita Rajakaruna and Thammika Ganepola.
Filing petitions
As the defendant Sanad Nishantha has now passed away, the court has ordered to summon them on the 2nd of next to decide on the action to be taken regarding the contempt petitions.
It is noteworthy that these petitions have been filed by Sri Lankan Judicial Officers Association and two lawyers namely Priyal Sirisena and Vijitha Kumara.
