A man has been arrested by the police on charges of forging a village officer’s confirmation.

A man from South Sri Lanka was arrested on charges of stealing jewelery at the Kachchathivu festival held last month.

A case was filed against him in the Urgavarurai court. The plea allowed the suspect to be arraigned in court.

In this case, the village officer’s confirmation letter for the bail documents of the suspect has been forged.

Fake seal

A fake rubber stamp was produced and this confirmation letter was produced and fake information about the suspect was also provided.

In this regard, a police team headed by Special Crime Investigation Unit Officer Gunanirojan had conducted investigations.

While the person who prepared the fake documents was absconding, he was arrested by the police in Manipai yesterday.

The arrested person is a 43-year-old resident of Thirunagar, Jaffna and investigations are being conducted against him, the Special Crime Investigation Unit said.
