A man has died after being sucked into the turbine of an airliner. Delta Airlines, at San Antonio International Airport, Texas. Outsourced employee, he did not have his identity revealed.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the aircraft had arrived from Los Angeles and had only one engine running at the time of the incident.

“Delta Flight 1111 was taxiing to the gate with only one engine running at the time when a worker was ingested by that engine at 10:25 pm,” the board said. “The NTSB is in contact with Delta. They are in the process of gathering information.”

At the moment, not many details of the incident are known. Only that the official was on the track. The airport rules out pilot failure on the plane in which the man died after being sucked into the turbine.

Unifi Aviation, the company where the man worked, classified the episode as “a tragic accident” outside the usual procedures of its activity. “Our sympathies are with the victim’s family and we continue to support our staff on the ground and ensure they are cared for during this time,” the statement reads.
