Man Fatally Shot in Birmingham: Authorities Release Victim’s Name and Details of the Incident

Three men were killed in separate shootings in Birmingham on Saturday, with authorities identifying the first victim as Demetrious Restee Williams.

Williams, 36, was fatally shot in the predawn hours at Avenue W and 18th Street in Ensley. Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of gunfire and found Williams wounded and unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him dead on the scene.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade stated that Shot Spotter registered about nine rounds, and details are limited. Williams was the first of three men killed in shootings in Birmingham on Saturday.

Later in the day, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot while in a vehicle outside an Ensley store, and another man was injured in a shooting in the 2600 block of Avenue C. He was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.

No arrests have been made in any of the slayings, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
