Kannada writer Nemi Chandra wrote K. He also spoke at the launch of the novel ‘Yadvashem’ translated into Tamil by Nallathambi:
Man has been a translator since the beginning of mankind. Ever since there were written words in pictorial form, someone has been understanding and translating them. The child’s mother tongue is always translated by the mother. It is surprising how well the words used in the vernacular come into being in translation. Translation is necessary if the original writings are to reach the world.
Award and appreciation are very necessary for writers and translators. But rather than the awards, Nallathambi said, the appreciation given by the readers is more important when they talk about the work in person.
The meeting was presided over by Rasi Panneerselvan, president of Tamuekasa district. District Secretary M. Stalin Saravanan delivered the introductory speech. Durai Aribasak and Maithili Kasthuri Rengan shared their reading experiences. Kavinar Jeevi, member of the state committee of the association, attended and congratulated.
